I found a hole in my philosophy of learning from mistakes. In life, my goal is to not fear mistakes. For example, I don't know how to do find an address while delivering but I press on anyway and figure it out. In that instance, taking a wrong turn can improve my knowledge of how to get to the destination.

However, there are people who know more than me in life. Many mistakes they have made can be learned from.

Where and when do I ask elders for advice? Certainly not when delivering to a house and certainly when raising children. But wheres the line?

This has me perplexed.

Perhaps it is the severity of the lesson. The consequences of the mistake may dictate whether advice should be given or not.
